Recycling in Williamson, Maury, Rutherford, and Wilson Counties

Recycling is a key step in reducing landfill waste and keeping our Middle Tennessee communities litter free. When looking for the closest drop-off location to recycle, you’ll need to know that “convenience center” is the term used for a recycling center. There are several convenience centers located throughout Williamson, Maury,  Rutherford, and Wilson Counties.

Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY CONVENIENCE CENTERS – full list available

  • Hours of Operations: 
    • Monday – Friday, 7am to 5pm
    • Saturday and Sunday, 7am to 6pm 

 

  •  Up to three cubic yards of waste per day is allowed at convenience centers.
    • Excess waste to the landfill must be taken to 5750 Pinewood Road, Franklin
    • Commercial waste is not allowed at any convenience center and must be taken to the landfill.

 

  • Unless noted otherwise, all convenience centers allow the following materials:
    • Residential waste: household garbage, brush, and construction and demolition waste.
    • Residential recycling: metal, cans, aluminum, plastics #1 and #2 only (No plastic bags), glass, paper, cardboard, used motor oil, and cooking oil.

Electronic Recycling

Drop-off stations at convenience centers in Nolensville, Grassland, Fairview, Thompson’s Station, and at the Landfill Convenience Centers in Franklin. City eWaste offers residents a free and easy way to dispose of unwanted electronics.

Williamson County Landfill Convenience Center:

  •  5750 Pinewood Road, Franklin
  •   Accepts residential waste, brush, construction, and demolition
  •   Accepts recycling: glass, aluminum, paper etc.
  •   Special residential waste accepted: automotive batteries, latex-based paint, antifreeze, and automotive tires (limit: six per household per day)

 

Paper Shredding

  • 5750 Pinewood Road., Franklin
  • Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8am – 1pm
  • Self service



Batteries, Oil, Paint, Antifreeze, and Electronics Recycling

  • 417 Century Court, Franklin
  • Monday – Thursday 6am – 4pm
  • 1st Saturday of each month  8am – 12pm
  • Flattened cardboard also excepted

Maury County

  • Hours of Operations: 
    • Monday – Saturday, 7:30am to 5pm
  •  Up to two cubic yards of waste per day is allowed at convenience centers.
    • Commercial waste is not allowed

  • Disposal of e-waste (computers, TVs, etc.), paint, and tires (fees may apply)

    • Sunday, 7:30am – 3pm (Household garbage only)

 

  • Single Stream pilot program at all locations
    • Accepting recyclable paper, #1 and #2 plastics, aluminum cans, tin cans, and glass
    • Oil-based paint by appointment only

 

  • Landfill is located at 6000 Landfill Road, Murfreesboro
    • Monday – Friday 7am – 2:45pm
    • Accepts brush and tires

 

RUTHERFORD COUNTY RECYCLING & CONVENIENCE CENTERSfull list available

 

Haley Road Electronic Waste & Recycle   temporaily closed

  • 1140 Haley Road, Murfreesboro
  • Open Monday – Thursday and Saturday, 7:30am – 4pm (temporarily closed)
  • No residential trash is accepted at this location
  • Large appliances 
  • Computer and electronics recycled for a fee

 

Murfreesboro Convenience Center

  • 648 West Main Street, Murfreesboro
  • Hours of Operation Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 7am – 3pm 
  • Accepts cardboard, newspapers, #1 and #2 plastics, steel and aluminum cans, and white paper

Wilson County

WILSON COUNTY CONVENIENCE CENTERS -full list available

  • General Information
    • Open daily 7am – 4:30pm
    • Must have a Wilson County vehicle tag
    • One visit per day
    • No Box Trucks,U-hauls or enclosed trailers
    • No commercial or partial loads
  • Acceptable Items
    • 10 bags of household garbage
    • One of the following: 
      • 2 pieces of furniture
      • 2 appliances 
      • 1 8×10 carpet or rug
      • 5 pieces of lumber
      • 20 shingles 
      • 2 boxes of miscellaneous items for open top dumpster
      • 5 pieces of metal/tin
  • Unacceptable Items:
    • Tires/automotive parts
    • Paint
    • Hazardous waste
    • Yard waste/limbs/grass
    • Fireworks

    • All loads must be checked on scale 30 minutes prior to closing
