A Guide to Rutherford County School Enrollment
If you are a parent or guardian of school-age children and relocating to Rutherford County,one of the first things you will need to do is review the school’s enrollment requirements. To help guide you through the process, here are some of the requirements for registration and enrollment. Also, a list of the schools with addresses, phone and fax numbers are listed below as a handy reference, plus a list of bell times for each school.

Birth certificate or other official record of birth (TN birth certificates can be obtained by calling the Rutherford County Health Department at 615-898-7880)

Tennessee Certificate of Immunization++

Proof of residency

Current proof of custody of the child if parents are divorced, separated or unmarried.

A copy of the student's high school transcript (if applicable)
Health Requirements

++Families new to Tennessee are required to have their child’s immunization records transferred to a Tennessee Certificate for any type of school enrollment. You may bring a child’s current immunization records to the county health department, take it to the child’s healthcare provider and they can file it, or submit it online. You will be contacted when the certificate is ready to be picked up at the health department and then you may submit it to the school.
If your child is entering school for the first time, for instance, if he/she is entering Pre-K or Kindergarten or entering public school from a homeschool setting, it is required to have a proof of physical within the last 12 months.
