Eagleville Offers a Rural Lifestyle

Eagleville is the smallest city in Rutherford County with a population of 930 residents. Along Main Street are locally-owned shops and restaurants, which add to the small-town charm of this agrarian community. Eagleville was settled in the late 18th century and officially incorporated in 1977.

Agriculture is the main industry here. While there are several private farms in Eagleville, a handful of “you-pick” farms welcome guests and sell to the public. These farms offer seasonal fruits and vegetables such as blueberries at Blue Honey Farms, and vegetables and strawberries at Rocky Glade Farm. The pumpkin patch at Lucky Ladd Farm is a local fall favorite.

Local Heritage and Historic Sites

Founded in 1832, the town was named Eagleville in 1836 after a local legend claimed an eagle was seen nesting in the area. Its roots stretch back to the 1790s when settlers from North Carolina established the area under Williamson County jurisdiction. In 1877, Eagleville officially became part of Rutherford County after petitioning for better infrastructure and
support. Eagleville is rich with historic sites that echo its 19th-century past. One of the oldest and most notable is the Absalom Scales House, built around 1790 in the Greek Revival style and is still privately owned. The McCord House, constructed in 1882, features Italianate architecture and is another landmark of local heritage. Visitors can also find remnants of old rail lines and mills that hint at the town’s past role as a local trade center.

Seasonal Traditions and Local Gatherings

Eagleville residents enjoy a sense of connection that comes to life through its festivals and traditional gatherings. Throughout the year, the city hosts events that celebrate both its rural heritage and community culture. The annual Eagleville Fall Festival is a local favorite, featuring live music, artisan vendors, food trucks, and family-friendly activities that draw residents and visitors alike. During the holiday season, the Christmas Parade lights up the town with festive floats and marching bands on Main Street. First Fridays, hosted by the Eagleville Merchants Association, spotlights local businesses with extended business hours and festivities on First Fridays, May – September from 5 pm – 8 pm.
