Nolensville is a community learning to balance its small-town charm with the excitement of dynamic growth. Founded in 1797 by Revolutionary War veteran William Nolen, Nolensville’s story began when a broken wagon wheel prompted Nolen, his wife Sarah, and their five children to settle in this picturesque area. Today, the broken wagon wheel serves as a proud symbol of Nolensville.
With its rich historical ties, including significant Civil War connections noted by historical markers throughout the community, Nolensville honors its past while planning for its future. As the town grows, new businesses, neighborhoods, and amenities enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors alike. Nolensville is a family-friendly town and a place where history, progress, and community come together.
Location
Nolensville is located approximately 20 miles southeast of downtown Nashville, in Williamson County, with the north section of town connecting to the Nashville/Davidson County line. It is conveniently located between I-65 and I-24.
Nolensville Park
Situated along scenic Mill Creek near the historic downtown, Nolensville Park offers a variety of amenities, including:
- Athletic fields
- A dog park
- A playground
- A paved walking and biking trail
Locals can enjoy a walking and biking trail that starts from the Historic School (intersection of Sunset and Nolensville Roads), through Nolensville Park, Nolensville Elementary, and continuing to Nolensville High School near Nolensville and York Roads.
A paved-trail along Sunset Road connects residents to Nolensville’s park, the farmer’s market, restaurants, and shops along Nolensville Road. Many neighborhoods also feature scenic trails, making Nolensville a walkable community.
Mill Creek
If you drive anywhere through Nolensville, you will see sections of Mill Creek, a 27.9-mile-long tributary of the Cumberland River that winds its way into Nashville/Davidson County. It’s not just a pretty part of the landscape; it’s also home to the endangered Nashville Crayfish. Mill Creek flows through the heart of town, Nolensville Park, and several neighborhoods, offering residents a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Broken Wheel Festival: Taking place in the fall, this event includes live music, food trucks, and a wide array of vendors. The festival is hosted by the non-profit, Round-Up for Nolensville, supporting local residents in need.
Independence Day Celebration: Typically held on the Saturday before July 4th, this event features live music, food trucks, and a spectacular fireworks display.
Veterans Day Parade: Held in November on Veterans Day or the Saturday before.
Christmas Parade: Nolensville’s newest parade is held in early December along with the Town Hall tree lighting.
Managing Traffic
Nolensville’s growing population has led to increased traffic, particularly along Nolensville Road (U.S. Route 31A), which connects to Nashville.

- Explore alternate routes through neighborhoods to avoid congestion
- Plan travel around peak times, such as school drop-off and pick-up or rush hours
- Familiarize yourself with connecting roads on the east and west sides that run parallel to Nolensville Road

In the heart of Nolensville are two popular community-centric destinations that residents often visit: the Williamson County Recreation Complex and the Nolensville Farmer’s Market.

Nolensville Farmer's Market
The Nolensville Farmer’s Market is a favorite among locals, bringing together area vendors offering fresh produce, baked goods, meats, prepared meals, handmade art, and more.
- Seasonal Schedule: 9am to 12pm at the Historic School, 7248 Nolensville Road
- Spring, Summer, & Fall Market: Saturday mornings late April – Dec.
- Winter Market: Saturdays mornings, January – April
Future Growth
Nolensville will likely continue to grow as planned developments take shape. Among the latest to be approved, with groundbreakings taking place are the Town Square Development and the Village Green Development, bringing a much-needed commercial area to the south side of Nolensville.

- A central town square, green spaces, a splash pad, and a performance stage
- Residential buildings and residential-over-commercial buildings
- A commercial space for retail, restaurants, and offices
- Development that will take place in three phases over seven to 10 years

- Located across the road from Nolensville Town Square mixed-use development
